Innovative Foundations for Remote Sites
Clever innovation creates a constructible solution for remote sites. Connecting rural communities.
The Rural Connectivity Group (RCG) were awarded the task of extending wireless broadband to the edges of the network, connecting remote rural communities. To date the RCG has installed more than 400 cell towers in some of the most remote areas of New Zealand.
Total Ground Engineering (TGE) and Earth Stability (ESL) approached the RCG with a proposal to install foundations for cell towers and control cabinets using micropiles secured with structural steel head-frames
The foundation design and construction proposal was developed specifically to provide a modular, repeatable, economical solution for difficult-to-access sites using portable equipment, without any requirement for concrete. These innovative foundations have allowed cell towers to be economically built in hard to access locations.
