Come join us!

Ok so maybe we are a bit quirky and our sense of humour could be a little dark, but we are also a diverse team who work hard, respect each other and together we solve curly problems and get the job done.

As a member of our team, you will be coached by experts, you will be supported to learn and apply the best high-end analytical and other engineering tools. You will work on interesting projects and curly problems, (we are too small for silos!) and be part of innovations we are bringing to market.

Our offer to you

Market Competitive remuneration

As ground engineers we know that a solid foundation is critical!

Professional Development customized to your ambitions

We will support you to build a plan for your own growth and development through on-the-job opportunities and experiences as well as via external professional courses, seminars, and accreditations. We also support you to become a chartered professional member of Engineering New Zealand.

Employee Wellbeing Initiatives

Twice weekly group personal training sessions near the office before work, Friday afternoon decompression session at the local establishment. Giving back days (such as Planting days for Save the Kiwi). (As a team we like to test things out and decide if they are for us, if they are we keep doing them, if they are not, we do something else.)

A team-based flexible environment

We like working as a team together because we can learn and move fast this way, but we are also open to finding more flexible ways to achieve this and exploring hybrid modes of work that work for our team and the job at hand.

Great work-life balance

We work hard, but unless it’s an exception or emergency, we don’t take work home at the end of the day.

Scholarships & Internships

We proactively support growing the next generation of geotechnical thinkers, problem solvers and innovators.

We sponsor an Auckland University scholarship to inspire and support outstanding Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) students with an interest in using mathematical modelling and advanced technologies and software to pursue studies and a future career in the field of advanced geotechnical engineering.

More information on the TGE scholarship can be found here: Scholarship Information

We also support internships, see the intern stories below…

Intern Stories

Kia ora. I’m Jack, BE(Hons) student at the University of Auckland.

As 2022 exams drew to a close, I began researching summer internships. Having thoroughly enjoyed CIVIL200 (introduction to geotechnical engineering), I reached out to Neil at TGE. He and I met for breakfast and immediately hit it off. I was intrigued by his innovative ideas for the renewable energy sector and chose to come on board the following Monday.

My four months at TGE were fantastic. I worked on exciting and meaningful projects – such as developing a system for designing solar array foundations. This project exposed me to cutting-edge finite element modelling software, hugely strengthened my Excel skills, and provided me with knowledge of American structural codes.

I enjoyed the small-team culture. Our early morning training sessions, and drinks around the corner on Friday afternoons, were fun and helped me get to know the team. I had the flexibility to work on some interesting non-technical initiatives, such as TGE’s social media presence and a donation drive for Ukraine.

It was a summer well spent!

Social good initiatives

We like to do some good in the world and have undertaken team planting days for the ‘Save the Kiwi’ initiative, we actively support the West Auckland chapter of the St John Ambulance as part of their ‘Team Green’ program.

Recently we partnered with The Sleepstore NZ to send merino clothing to the Ukraine for citizens living in conflict zones.
